Tony Hester established Sancus Solutions with Mick Turner in 2009. Previous to this, Tony was a Senior Investigating Officer in the Metropolitan Police for over 31 years, and then engaged as a Director in a leading training company. Tony holds the National Training Certificate and has delivered training internationally on behalf of the British Government.

Ian Kennedy

Director of Sancus Operations

Ian completed his police career with West Yorkshire Police in Autumn 2012. Prior to that he had worked in a range of roles including Professional Standards, Counter Terrorism and Divisional Command. In the time since his retirement, he has delivered training in the field of professional standards, anti-corruption and misconduct to all police forces, and also staff associations, nationally. In late 2019/early 2020 with a colleague he delivered training for the College of Policing to all police regions in England and Wales. This was to assist the Home Office with the roll out of the 2020 Police Regulations. He is well known nationally for his work in the field.

Ray Marley

Director of Sancus Operations

Ray completed 30 years service with Surrey Police in April 2017. He held various roles including major crime SIO and head of public protection. In his last five years he was Head of Professional Standards and latterly the College of Policing lead for ethics, integrity and professional standards. In this role he was responsible for developing national guidance on Misconduct Outcomes, Maintaining Professional Boundaries, Whistleblowing and the Code of Practice on Police Vetting.  Since retiring he spent five years as a chair of Fitness to Practice hearings for the Nursing & Midwifery Council. Currently he is a member of the Case Management Group (safeguarding) for Badminton England for whom he developed the national disciplinary regulations.  Ray is a director of Sancus Operations. In addition to consultancy work he delivers the Investigations in Professional Standards, Police Disciplinary Meetings & Hearings and Police Vetting courses.

Bill Griffiths
Bill Griffiths CBE, BEM, QPM

Senior Adviser

With 43 years Metropolitan Police service, including 9 as Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Bill led Serious Crime Operations overseeing the work of some 3,000 specialist detectives at New Scotland Yard, for 5 years. He then became the Met’s Director of Leadership Development. Bill orchestrated the strategic changes to homicide investigation and training following the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry, and he remains a keynote speaker on the Senior Leadership Programme at Bramshill and Ryton. On behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers, he ran the Strategic Management of Critical Incident Training (1999-2009) and initiated the Professional Investigation Programme (PIP) that transformed crime training and accreditation at all levels in the police service of England and Wales. Bill is also an experienced leadership development coach and facilitator and provides strategic advice and programme design experience to Sancus, as well as training and development at the senior level.
